Day 1

 

Brasov – Baia Mare:Departure at 8:00 from Brasov. Stop and sleep in Baia Mare. Arriving at the place where we will be accommodated, visit the citadel, in the evening we will have free time. Dinner at a traditional restaurant (Optional).

 

Baia Mare

 

The roman name of the city was Rivulus Dominarum. After the departure of the Romans there weren’t very many records left. One so called first documentary attestation dates back to 1329, when the city was renowned as a strong center for the extraction of gold ore, extensively exploited by the Hungarians. During Iancu de Hunedoara’s reign, Baia Mare becomes his private property. Today’s ruins of the fortress date back to the reign of the king Matei Corvin. It’s a European medieval city with its characteristic attractions. Like all the big cities from Transilvania, Baia Mare has a long and tumultuous history.

Day 2

 

Baia Mare – Barsana – Sighetul Marmatiei:Departure at 8:00 from Baia Mare to Barsana. Visit traditional old houses and the Barsana Monastery. Continue to Sighetul Marmatiei, sleep there, lunch, free time.

 

Barsana Village:

 

It was certified in 1326 by King Carol Robert of Anjou, which ennobled the prince Stanislau of Bârsana for his help in winning the throne. The settlement is very popular in the Eastern Europe, especially in the recent years. It is visited by large numbers of pilgrims and foreign tourists, mainly for the uniqueness of the wooden churches, but also for the special traditional costumes and the local traditions. Day 3

 

Sighetul Marmatiei – Sapanta – Brasov:9:00, visiting the Pain Memorial Museum, the Communist Pogrom. Living to Village Sapanta, and go toThe Merry Cemetery, accommodate and sleep in Sapanta(or Sighetul Marmatiei,optional). Festive dinner (optional). (Optional).

 

Sighetul Marmației:

 

A municipality, the second largest from the county, after Baia Mare, is a multiethnic city, with diverse cultures. Certified in 1326, the name of the city, Sighetul Marmației, seems that it represents a troponin of Indo – European or Hungarian origin. One, if not the main attraction of the city is the Memorial Museum of Pain which offer the visitors the opportunity to recall the tragedies of the communist period, after the Second World War. Săpânța Village:

 

Maramures has a lot more to offer: the main attraction from Săpânța village is, of course, the famous Merry Cemetery. The Merry Cemetery is a popular cemetery all around the world, being visited by millions of people annually. It’s unique and it’s part of the UNESCO heritage. As you’ve guessed, it’s famous for the brightly colored crosses of the graves, painted in multiple colors, with scenes that depicts moments from the life and profession of those buried. On some of the crosses there are imprinted even poetry lyrics that, in an exclusively humoristic connotation, are depicted certain times from the life of the people concerned. The majority of the crosses exhibit inscriptions with spelling mistakes, archaic writings, which denote the simplicity and originality of the details. This cemetery is unique in the whole world!.
